La Fresneda
Member of Los Pueblos más Bonitos de España
The Order of Calatrava held La Fresneda from the 12th century, and its 16th-century commandery palace, town hall and dungeons still recall that rule. Olives, almonds, pines and cereal fields surround it in the Matarraña. On Santa Bárbara hill, prehistoric rock carvings include a figure with open arms known as 'the first fresnedino', now the village's emblem.
