Sicily's inland villages

4 days · ~9 h 05 driving ·Islands, Hill towns, Food

Away from the beaches, this route crosses Sicily from east to west through its hills. It begins in the Baroque towns of the Val di Noto, such as Militello and Palazzolo Acreide, then climbs to Ferla and Buccheri in the Iblei mountains. The second half follows the high ground of the Nebrodi and the Madonie through Troina, Sperlinga, Gangi and Petralia Soprana, before dropping to Cefalù on the north coast.
