Troina
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
In 1062 Roger I, having driven out the Arabs with help from the townspeople, made Troina the first capital of the Norman County of Sicily. At about 1,120 metres it is the highest town in the province of Enna, on the edge of the Nebrodi woods. From Piazza Conte Ruggero, at the top of the old town, the view reaches Etna and the Ionian coast.
