Montegridolfo
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
Right on the ridge that divides Romagna from the Marche, this small walled village was rebuilt in 1337–39 by Malatesta il Guastafamiglia, after a cousin allied with the Montefeltro had destroyed it. Its rectangular ring of walls, entered through a single gate tower, still encloses restored lanes of small houses. In 1944 the front ran through here, a story told in the Museum of the Gothic Line.
