Coreglia Antelminelli
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
From its hill at 595 metres on the flanks of Monte Rondinaio, Coreglia looks out over the Apennines and the whole chain of the Apuan Alps. A castle stood here by 1048, and the Antelminelli later turned its keep into the church of San Michele and dug tunnels for moving unseen. Castruccio Castracani besieged the village in 1316, and the Antelminelli name was added in 1862.
