Loubressac
Member of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France
From its rocky prow above the Bave, the fortified village of Loubressac looks across the Dordogne valley to the Château de Castelnau-Bretenoux. You enter through a fortified gate among houses built along the line of the ramparts, and the castle was restored in the early 1900s by the playwright Henri Lavedan. In 1961 Sylvia Plath stayed in the commune and wrote 'Stars over the Dordogne'.
