Castrojeriz
Member of Los Pueblos más Bonitos de España
Pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago walk the whole length of Castrojeriz, a single street running for more than 1.5 km below a castle-topped hill. Its charter of 974 is held to be the first in Castile, and in the ruined castle Queen Leonor was murdered in 1359. Just outside town, the arch of the San Antón monastery still spans the pilgrim road.
