The Comminges and the Val d'Aran

3 days · ~6 h 55 driving ·Mountains

A cross-border trip from Toulouse into the central Pyrenees. On the French side, the first stop is Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges, its cathedral rising above the remains of a Roman town. Over the border the route reaches Durro in the Vall de Boí, whose Romanesque churches are on the UNESCO list, then climbs into the Val d'Aran, where Aranese, a form of Occitan, is spoken in Garòs, Arties and Bagergue.
