Chinchón and Nuevo Baztán from Madrid
An easy escape from Madrid to two very different towns. Chinchón is built around an arcaded main square lined with wooden balconies, which still turns into a bullring for its fiestas, and the town, overlooked by the castle of its counts, is known for its anise liqueur. Nuevo Baztán, by contrast, was planned from scratch in the early 18th century as a manufacturing settlement, with a palace and church designed by José Benito de Churriguera.
