Torre Alfina
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
A Lombard-era watchtower turned castle gave Torre Alfina its name, and the castle still dominates this small village on the northern rim of the Alfina plateau, close to the borders of Umbria and Tuscany. Its present look dates from the 1880s, when the banker Edoardo Cahen had it remodelled by the Sienese architect Giuseppe Partini. From the public gardens you walk straight into the monumental Sasseto wood.
