Sepino
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
Below Sepino lie the ruins of Saepinum, a Roman town on the sheep track from Pescasseroli to Candela, where shepherds lived among the old walls and flocks still walked the main street in the 1950s. The present village grew up on a wooded hill at 698 metres in the Matese foothills after the Roman town was abandoned. Its main church, Santa Cristina, has an onion-shaped spire in Neapolitan style.
