Barely forty people now live in this Val Soana village, which had close to 2,000 in the early 1900s. Like others in the valley, its people were magnin, coppersmiths who spent the winters working in the plains of Piedmont and Lombardy, in Liguria, Switzerland and France. What remains is a cluster of stone houses under slab roofs, with many of its 21 hamlets now empty.

Highlights

  • 'Le mazon i contiont', a photo trail on the village walls
  • Stone houses roofed with losa slabs
  • Parish church of San Giacomo and the civic tower
