Guardiagrele
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
Gabriele d'Annunzio called it 'Abruzzo's terrace' for the views of the Maiella's peaks and valleys from its long promontory on the massif's eastern slopes. Metalwork is the local craft: wrought iron, copper and gold, from the goldsmith Nicola da Guardiagrele to the presentosa, the festive Abruzzese jewel first made here and in Agnone. Every August a fair shows off the region's artisans.
Highlights

- Mostra dell'artigianato artistico abruzzese, 1–20 August
- The presentosa, a woman's jewel, usually gold, worn on feast days (IT)
